About the author

Benjamin Riley spent the last four years as Director of Policy and Advocacy at NewSchools Venture Fund, a national non-profit organization that supports education innovation and entrepreneurship. Prior to joining NewSchools, Ben served as a deputy attorney general for the State of California who worked with then-Attorney General (now Governor) Jerry Brown on education policy and legal issues. During Benjamin’s seven month Ian Axford Fellowship exchange to New Zealand he was based at the Ministry of Education in Wellington, researching the use of scientific evidence and data in decision-making in the New Zealand education sector.
